Which Version Do I Have?
What Writer & SEO, Core and the Theme each include, and how to tell which one is on your site.
Every version of Presstack has the same heart: Cleo, the Knowledgebase she learns your business from, the writing engine, and the daily checks that keep your site healthy. What changes from one version to the next is what else is switched on around her.
A simple way to think about it:
- Writer & SEO looks after what you publish and how it shows up in search.
- Core adds the tools for growing: seeing where you rank, finding what people search for, and building new pages.
- The Theme adds the website itself: the design, the templates and an inbox for your enquiries.
What Each Version Includes
| Writer & SEO | Core | Theme | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cleo writes your articles | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Titles, descriptions, schema, redirects | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| More than 30 daily site checks | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Search Console findings | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Rank tracking and AI answer checks | No | Yes | Yes |
| Keyword research and backlinks | No | Yes | Yes |
| New Page and Blueprints | No | Yes | Yes |
| Storyboard (describe a page, watch it built) | No | No | Yes |
| Design system, templates, inbox | No | No | Yes |
| Works with your existing theme | Yes | Yes | It replaces it |
A few of those words may be new, so in plain terms:
- Schema is a hidden label on each page that tells Google what it is, such as a business, an article or a product. It helps you show up with richer results.
- Redirects send visitors from an old web address to the new one, so links people have saved keep working.
- Rank tracking shows where your pages appear in Google for the searches you care about, and whether that's going up or down.
- AI answer checks look at whether tools like ChatGPT mention your business when someone asks about what you do.
- Blueprints are page plans Cleo can build from, so a set of similar pages (one for each service, say) can be made in one go.
How To Tell Which You Have
The quickest way is to look at the Presstack menu on the left of your WordPress admin.
- If you can see Design, Templates and Inbox, you're on Presstack Theme.
- If you can't, you're on one of the plugin versions. Open Pages: if you see New Page and Blueprints, it's Core. If you don't, it's Writer & SEO.
Your plan is also shown in your Presstack account under Subscription.
Moving Between Versions
You're never locked into the version you started with.
- Writer & SEO to Core: just a plan change in your account. Nothing to download or install.
- Core to Theme: install the Theme. Everything Cleo knows and everything she's done comes with you, because it's all stored in your own WordPress database, not somewhere else.
- Theme back to a plugin: your content stays put, but the Theme's designs don't carry over. That's because the plugins are made never to change how a site looks, so they have nothing to show those designs with.
