Where Your Details Are Used
How the Knowledgebase feeds Cleo's writing, your site, and what Google sees, plus backing it up.
Fill something in once and it turns up in several places. It helps to know where, so you know why getting it right matters.
In Cleo's Writing
Every time Cleo writes for you, she works from your Knowledgebase. That covers articles, new pages and page sections, product descriptions, search titles and descriptions, and her answers when you chat with her.
She doesn't paste everything into everything. A search description only needs your name, your town and your tone, so that's all it gets. A full article or page gets much more: your services, what makes you different, who you're writing for and how you sound. Your phone number, address, prices and team bios are kept out of general writing, so they don't end up scattered through your articles.
On Your Website
Your contact details, address and opening hours come from the Knowledgebase wherever Presstack shows them, such as in contact areas, your footer and Presstack's own widgets. Change a detail once in the Knowledgebase and it updates everywhere at once. When you save, your site's cache is cleared, so visitors see the change straight away.
If a particular widget needs to show something different, you can type it into that widget instead. Whatever you type there wins, just for that widget.
What Google Sees
Behind every page, Presstack adds hidden labels, called schema, that describe your business to search engines: your name, what you do, your address, opening hours, services, accreditations, team and so on. These come straight from your Knowledgebase. Complete, accurate details here are one of the simplest things you can do to help search engines understand and trust your business.
Backing It Up
Your Knowledgebase lives in your own WordPress database. To keep a copy, go to Settings → Maintenance, find Export & Import Your Data and press Export My Data. To bring a copy back, press Import From File. Importing adds to what you have; it never wipes it.
On top of that, Presstack keeps a copy automatically before any save that would leave you with fewer details than before. See What The Knowledgebase Is for how to restore it.
