Writing A Post

Asking Cleo for one post: choosing the kind of post, the options, her plan, and what it costs.

Updated

When you have something specific to write about, a new service, a common question, some news, this is the way to do it. You tell Cleo the topic, she plans the post, and you decide whether she writes it.

Open Blog → New Post, or press Write A Post on the Blog screen.

1. Choose The Kind Of Post

Cleo asks What kind of post? Each kind has its own shape:

  • How-To / Tutorial: step-by-step help.
  • News / Announcement: something new at your business.
  • Case Study: a job you did and how it went.
  • Listicle / Roundup: a numbered list of tips or options.
  • Opinion: your view on something in your industry.
  • Comparison: weighing up options for the reader.
  • Explainer: what something is and why it matters.
  • Product Update: what's changed in what you offer.

2. Tell Cleo What It's About

Type your Topic. It's the only thing you have to fill in. Short is fine: "how often to service a boiler" is plenty. Stuck for ideas? Press Ideas.

Everything else is optional, and sensible defaults are already set:

OptionWhat it does
Angle This Post ForWho it's for: people Ready To Act, people Comparing options, or people Learning.
Focus keywordThe search phrase you'd most like the post to be found for.
LengthShort, Standard or Long (more choices in Advanced mode).
Link To These PagesPages on your site the post should link to.
CategoryLeave it as Let Cleo pick best fit, or choose one.
ImagesFeatured Image Only or No Images.
Save AsDraft to read it first, or Published to go live straight away.

The post is written in your voice, from your Knowledgebase and Blog Settings, so there's no tone to choose here.

3. Look At Cleo's Plan

Press See Cleo's plan. Planning is free. Cleo shows you the title, the search description and an outline of the headings, with the cost to build it.

If it's not what you had in mind, press Adjust Topic and try again. If it looks right, press Build it.

4. Confirm The Cost

Before anything is written you'll see what it costs: the article, plus the featured image if you chose one. For example, a post with a standard featured image is 4 + 2 = 6 credits. Confirm, and Cleo writes it.

5. Read It

When it's done you'll see Your post is ready, with a button to open it in the editor, or to view it live if you chose to publish. Read it through, change anything you like, and publish when you're happy.

Writing It Later Instead

Rather than write it now, you can press Schedule For Later and pick a date. Cleo writes it on that day, as long as the Auto Writer is on, and saves it as a draft or publishes it according to your setting in Cleo → Autonomy.
