The Auto Writer And Your Budget
Letting Cleo write planned posts by herself, the monthly budget that keeps spending in check, and drafts versus publishing.
The Auto Writer is what turns a planned calendar into written posts without you lifting a finger. As each post's date comes round, Cleo researches it, writes it, adds a featured image and saves it.
Because it spends credits while you're not watching, it comes with two safeguards: you have to agree to it once, and it can never spend more than a monthly budget you set.
Turning It On
Any of these turns it on:
- the Auto Writer switch at the top right of the Blog Calendar;
- Turn The Auto Writer On in the warning banner, if the calendar shows one;
- approving a plan with Plan Next Month;
- Cleo → Auto-Run, where you give the one-time go-ahead with Authorise Auto-Run.
Turn it off with the same switch whenever you like. Posts you write yourself from New Post aren't affected either way.
Your Monthly Budget
In Cleo → Auto-Run you'll find Blog Auto Writer with its Monthly Budget (Credits). It starts at 80 credits a month. That's enough for a steady blog on every plan, and you can raise or lower it.
When the month's budget is used up, the Auto Writer stops. Posts that couldn't be written show Budget Gated on the calendar and wait. The budget resets at the start of each month, or you can raise it straight away.
Drafts Or Published
By default, every post the Auto Writer makes is saved as a draft for you to read first. That's set in Cleo → Autonomy under New Blog Posts:
- Save As Drafts: posts wait in your drafts until you publish them (the default).
- Publish On Schedule: posts go live on their planned date.
Even when publishing, at most 3 automatic posts go live in any week. Any more are saved as drafts, so your blog never suddenly fills up overnight.
Autopilot
On the calendar, Autopilot lets Cleo keep the calendar topped up by herself, choosing a set number of posts per day or per week from your strongest opportunities. Start small: one or two a week is plenty for most businesses, and every post uses credits.
